ART 011A FOUNDATION DRAWING:
Challenge:
This is my first time I'm ever taking an art class. I have always been self-taught and my older brother teaching me how to draw when I was in fourth grade. I was pretty nervous since I wasn't a professional or an expert, but I started to see development in my work. My first struggle in the class was when we had to use the three different types of gradation. Our first project was drawing eggs by using sketch, cross-hatching, and blending. I loved how my cross-hatching egg turned out, but unfortunately I needed to work more on my blending. It looked more like a blob instead of actually an egg. I started to also have trouble in making sketching objects. I usually draw anatomy most than objects. I had to draw a cowboy boot and it didn't turn out very well. After looking at my failures, I started to develop a strategy and started to practice my skills at home as I would find objects at my house and start practicing my blending and sketching objects. I felt proud of myself after all that practice, I started to develop more in my time and my art skills started to improve.

Solution:
My next project was to blend charcoal to create geometry shapes. I started to noticed from my egg project to the geometry project that my blending skills started to improve. I started to work more of the shading gradation in the shapes more than how I did with the egg. I also started to see more improvement in making objects as well. My other project was making bottles and a teddy bear as I started to use light charcoal. I did had to use the blending technique as well but I also had to look carefully at the objects to make them appear how I see them in my direction. I was proud in how my bottles and teddy bear looked almost exactly alike in the real objects that was standing in front of me. I started to see improvement in my work and my professor started to see it as well. I was so happy that i knew a way to improve my art skills even more and I'm going to continue using my technique to keep practicing more to get more better.

Bonus:
This is a drawing when I didn't had any technique skills but only shading and the other drawing is when I have more technique skills in cross-hatching and using a dipping pen for the first time!
